Employee Spotlight

Marcia Kasper
Consulting Administrator

Each quarter, SSYH lets you get to know one of our employees a little better. This quarter's featured employee is Marcia Kasper, Consulting Administrator.

Marcia Kasper joined the staff at Stanley Stuart Yoffee & Hendrix, Inc. in June of 1999 as the Accounting Specialist. Marcia was responsible for all accounting functions, as well as administering the consulting side of the business. However, due to the company's growing client base, additional support was needed to properly maintain the service side of SSYH. Marcia recently moved into a new position as Consulting Administrator, in which her goal is to optimize consultant utilization and client satisfaction.

Marcia has over 14 years of accounting experience, which has helped her in both her previous accounting role, as well as her current position, in which she is responsible for service billings, consultant scheduling, maintaining client projects and budgets, and creating and maintaining SSYH customer portal sites.

Marcia was born in Massachusetts and moved to Ocala, FL at the age of seven, where she attended high school and college. She later moved to Orlando. Marcia has one daughter and a miniature pinscher named Oakey. In her spare time she enjoys camping, fishing and reading.

What's New at SSYH

All of us at SSYH wish you and the rest of your team a happy new year! We will be hosting a Client Appreciation Event in Central Florida next quarter. Also, Convergence 2007 is in San Diego, CA on March 11-14. We will follow up with further details for both events soon!

Christine McCarron, Account Executive - Existing Customers was recently recognized by Microsoft for exceeding her 2006 goals. She was welcomed into the Microsoft 100% Club and awarded a trip to Hawaii. We would like to thank all of our clients for their loyalty and for their commitment to growing their business with the Microsoft Dynamics solutions.

Business Intelligence Practice
We are pleased to announce the formation of a dedicated Business Intelligence (BI) practice. This practice will be led by David Yoffee, one of the founding members of SSYH.

Business Intelligence has two major components - a data warehouse and data viewing tools. The databases in ERP systems, such as Microsoft Dynamics SL/GP, are optimized for transaction processing. Reporting is possible, but additional benefits are had by moving the transactional data into a data warehouse that is optimized for data reporting. Easy-to-use data viewing tools allow users to self-perform data queries and analysis using "drag and drop" functionality. Reporting parameters such as years, divisions, product lines, service lines, projects, sales people, etc., can all instantly be manipulated. Results can be in traditional spreadsheet formats, charts and graphs, key performance indicator objects and even geographic maps.

We have several different software products available to both build data warehouses and view your data, and are very excited about the potential of this new practice. For further information or to arrange a custom demonstration tailored to your organization's specific requirements, please contact Christine McCarron at ext. 132.

Payroll Year-End Tips:

  • Complete all payroll runs for the current year.

  • Create a backup of your database and mark as 2006 pre year-end tax update.

  • Install the 2006 year-end update.

  • Run the W2 Calculation.

  • Review Employee W2 info in Employee W2 History. You can use Initialize Mode to edit the information.

  • Print the W2 forms.

  • Create a backup of your database and mark as 2006 post year-end file.

  • Run 1099 Preview Report. You can use the Vendor History Report, AP Transaction Report, and the Vendor Trial Balance - All Documents Report to compare 1099 info. Changes can be made in AP Vendor Maintenenace 1099 Tab using Initialize Mode.

  • Once you have printed the 1099 for the year, review the 1099 Calendar Year Control. The Change Status Process Option will allow you to close the 1099 year. This will prevent checks from being written for this year. The Purge Oldest Year option will purge the oldest year and roll the years forward. For example, if you have the current 1099 year as 2005, and the next 1099 year as 2006, the system will purge the 1099 info for 2005, make 2006 the current year, and 2007 the next 1099 year.

Note: Do not purge 2006 information until you have printed and verified the 1099s. Once you close or purge a year, you cannot go back.

Note: You can install the 2007 tax updates at anytime. These updates can be obtained from CustomerSource.

For more information on 1099 or Tax Updates contact SSYH or refer to CustomerSource.
