Each quarter, SSYH lets you get to know one of our employees a little better. This quarter's featured employee is Gary Krist, Sales Manager.

Gary Krist joined the SSYH staff in July 2007 as a Solutions Consultant, assisting Account Executives in assembling solutions to best meet clients' needs. In December 2007, Gary moved to the position of Sales Manager, in which he is responsible for ensuring that all SSYH clients are fully satisfied with their Microsoft Dynamics investments.

Before coming to Stanley Stuart Yoffee & Hendrix, Inc. Gary owned a Microsoft Dynamics consulting firm in Pittsburgh, PA. Although he sold the company in 2004, he stayed on to continue his leadership position with the Microsoft Dynamics business unit. Gary brings with him over twenty years of ERP experience, and his background and previous experiences ensure success for his clients.

Gary is a graduate of Robert Morris College, holding a degree in Business Information Systems. He is certified in Scribe Software Sales, as well as Microsoft Dynamics SL Financials, Microsoft Dynamics SL Installation, Microsoft Dynamics GP Financials and Microsoft Small Business Financials.

Gary recently moved to Florida with his wife and three children, Brian, Jessica and Michael. In his spare time, Gary enjoys learning about technology. He believes it helps him keep an open mind toward new technology and software.

  WHAT'S NEW AT SSYH

We would like to thank everyone who joined us for our Central Florida Client Appreciation Event! It is always great to get to know each other better in a relaxed, informal setting. One of the highlights of the evening was the Microsoft Across America Truck, a technology showroom on wheels, featuring complete, state-of-the-art solutions, including Windows Server 2008, SharePoint and Microsoft Dynamics CRM, allowing visitors to experience the technology firsthand and discover many ways to enhance their business. Our next Client Appreciation Event will be held in the fall. We will provide more details about this event as the date grows closer.

 

SSYH is very excited about the release of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. Convergence Recap

Convergence 2008 in Orlando began with a keynote address by Steve Ballmer regarding the future of the Microsoft Dynamics products. The remainder of the week was filled with numerous breakout sessions, providing Microsoft Dynamics users with informative and technical information. As in past years, attendance grew by roughly 30%, and the event was attended by nearly 10,000 people.

 

The major themes of this year's Convergence event included:

  • The Community of Business

  • Clarity of Product Vision

  • Commitment from Microsoft

Bringing these themes together were announcements regarding the extended life cycle of the Microsoft Dynamics products, as well as the new Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0.

 

The most popular venue at Convergence 2008 was the Community & Learning Center, where users were able to receive free technical support, research activities and opportunities to meet fellow users and product experts. In addition, the Hands-On Lab allowed users to explore Microsoft products and technologies in a "hands-on" environment.

 

We hope all of our customer attendees found Convergence beneficial to their business, enabling them to achieve their goals.

  TIPS & TRICKS FROM THE HELPDESK

Do you need help from SSYH?

SSYH has an in-house help desk that is available for help with Microsoft Dynamics software. Support can be obtained by calling (800) 670-0059 and selecting extension 122. You may also email your support questions/issues to our help desk at ssyhsupport@ssyh.com. When emailing, please include any screen shots or error messages that may help solve the issue.


Microsoft Dynamics SL (Solomon)

How to Apply an AP Debit Adjustment to a Voucher or Credit when entering the Debit Adjustment:

  • Use the Voucher and Adjustment Entry screen to enter the Debit Adjustment.

  • Notice that when you change the Type field to Debit Adjustment, the Apply Adjustment Tab is enabled.

  • In the Apply to Refnbr field on the Apply Adjustment tab, enter the Voucher or Credit number (F3 for the lookup) to apply the Debit Adjustment.

  • Save and release the batch.

  • Once the batch is released, you can use the Document Maintenance screen to remove the Apply to Refnbr from the Debit Adjustment.

  • During the Payment Selection process, when the Voucher is selected the Debit Adjustment will automatically be selected as well. If you use the Edit/Select Document for Payment screen to select the Voucher, the Debit Adjustment will not automatically be selected. You will manually need to select it.

How to View Advanced Security Info in Microsoft Dynamics GP 9.0 or Earlier Only:

  • Tools > Setup > System > Advanced Security

  • Your system password will need to be entered in this screen.

  • Select the company in the upper right (Note: Multiple companies can be selected by holding the CTRL key while selecting.

  • Select either:

    • The user(s) in the lower right to display the items/windows/reports they have access to (Note: Multiple users can be selected by holding the CTRL key while selecting).

    • The item on the menu at left to display the users who have access to the on the right.

  • If a checkbox appears as checked but in gray, not all users selected have the same permissions.
