Robert (Bob) Beadsley
Senior Consultant


Each quarter, SSYH lets you get to know one of our employees a little better. This quarter's featured employee is Bob Beardsley, Senior Consultant.


Bob Beardsley joined the staff at Stanley Stuart Yoffee & Hendrix, Inc. in June of 2003. As SSYH's Senior Consultant, he designs and deploys solutions for both new and existing clients. Bob strives to add value to SSYH's clients, and help them achieve the greatest return on their business solution investments.


Bob's decision to join SSYH was prompted by the company's reputation, and by his experience in consulting. Before coming to Stanley Stuart Yoffee & Hendrix, Inc., Bob gained over 15 years of experience in IT management and consulting, including Big 5 consulting with PriceWaterhouseCoopers. This diverse experience in systems, infrastructure, system vendors and client industries assists him in working with clients in many industries with various needs.


Bob is originally from New York, NY and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Manhattan College. In addition, he holds numerous certifications, including Certified Public Accountant, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, Cisco Certified Network Associate, Certified Information Technology Professional (American Institute of CPAs), Microsoft Business Solutions Certified Master, Microsoft Dynamics SL Certified, Microsoft Dynamics GP Certified, Microsoft Dynamics CRM Certified, and Microsoft Retail Management System Certified.


Bob currently lives in Leesburg, FL. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, as well as his dog and two cats, motorcycling and boating.

What's New at SSYH

All of us at SSYH hope you and the rest of your team had a happy and safe 4th of July! Our South Florida office has moved to 500 W. Cypress Creek Road in Fort Lauderdale. We look forward to seeing all of our clients at an open house to be held on September 14, 2006. We will update you with further details shortly!

SSYH was recently awarded the Microsoft Gulf States Area Manager's Excellence Award in recognition of Microsoft Dynamics ERP Solution Champion Excellence. This award honors the Microsoft partner whose commitment to clients is reflected in their business performance for both new customer acquisition and the servicing of existing customers. SSYH had the highest number of new customers in the Gulf States Area, which consists of Florida, Alabama and Mississippi.

Seven new clients located in cities throughout Florida, including Altamonte Springs, Jacksonville, Orlando, Pensacola and West Palm Beach, as well as Myrtle Beach, SC, were recently added. Our new clients represent numerous industries including distribution, education, entertainment, non-profit, telecommunications and translation/interpretation. We would like to welcome them to the SSYH family!

Tips & Tricks from the Help Desk

Do you need help from SSYH?

SSYH has an in-house support area that is available for help with your Microsoft business solution. Support can be obtained by calling Michael Broadmeadow at
(800) 670-0059 ext. 122. You may also email your support questions/issues to our help desk at ssyhsupport@ssyh.com. When emailing, please include any screen shots or error messages that will help solve your issue.


Microsoft Dynamics SL (Solomon)

Do you get the following message when logging into Microsoft Dynamics SL?

"New Event Log Files Exist! Do you want to view them?"

This message indicates that you have event logs that need to be viewed or deleted. An event log is a text document that provides information on various applications that you have run. If you click 'Yes' the Event Log viewer screen will appear. Look for logs with your Microsoft Dynamics SL User ID. You can view the log by clicking on the Process ID and then clicking on the View Button. To delete a log, click the delete box next to the log you want to delete. Once you close the screen, you will be prompted to delete the log. Once you view or delete all logs you will no longer get the message. If you do not have access to view or delete the event logs, please contact your System Administrator.


Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains)

Are you using Smartlists?

Smartlists are predefined criteria which can provide easy access to information stored in your Microsoft Dynamics GP system. Some of the information you can easily obtain from Smartlists are a listing of accounts, customers, vendors, payable transactions and employees. These are just a few of the predefined listings that are available. One of the big benefits of Smartlists is its ability to export to Excel and Word with a single click of your mouse. You can also define search criteria, add, remove or move columns to better suit your needs. To use Smartlists, simply select View > Smartlists from the Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) menu. To find out how Smartlists can work for you, please review the Help area within Microsoft Dynamics GP, or review the System User's Guide.
 

FRx
You get a message that a report, column or row format is in use, yet no one is in FRx. You need to compact the spec set and database. Here's how:

  1. Make sure all users are out of FRx.

  2. Make a backup of your FRx environment including the sysdata folder.

  3. From FRx, select File > Compact FRx Database > Current Spec Set Database. You will be prompted to continue. Answer Yes to continue or No to not perform the compact process.

  4. From FRx, select File > Compact FRx Database > FRx System Database. You will be prompted to continue. Answer Yes to continue or No to not perform the compact process.

Product Life Cycle Reminder

Microsoft Dynamics SL:

  • v5.5 - Microsoft Support ends October 10, 2006. Be sure to upgrade before October to take full advantage of your investment in Microsoft Maintenance. (When Microsoft discontinues a product line they prohibit purchasing additional licenses for modules and users and they no longer provide technical support. They also stop providing tax updates.)

  • v6.0 - Supported through September 29, 2009

  • v6.5 - Supported through March 31, 2011 with extended support options through March 31, 2016.

Microsoft Dynamics GP:

  • v7.5 - Microsoft Support ends October 31, 2006. Be sure to upgrade before October to take full advantage of your investment in Microsoft Maintenance. (When Microsoft discontinues a product line they prohibit purchasing additional licenses for modules and users and they no longer provide technical support. They also stop providing tax updates.)

  • v8.0 - Supported through September 30, 2009

  • v9.0 - Supported through March 31, 2010

Microsoft Dynamics CRM:

  • v1.2 - Supported through January 9, 2007

  • v3.0 - Supported through April 12, 2011
