Andrea Barlaan
Sales Coordinator


Each quarter, SSYH lets you get to know one of our employees a little better. This quarter's featured employee is Andrea Barlaan, Sales Coordinator.
 

Andrea Barlaan joined the staff at Stanley Stuart Yoffee & Hendrix, Inc. in September of 2003. She began as the administrative assistant, and moved into the Sales Coordinator position after approximately four months.


Andrea works with the sales staff to prepare proposals for clients, obtain pricing for Microsoft, as well as third party software and maintenance, orders the software, and obtains software registration keys for clients.


Andrea was born in Toronto Canada, and moved to California at the age of five. In 1971, her family moved to Orlando, Florida. Andrea has been married to her husband, Alex, for twenty-six years. In her spare time, Andrea enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as her two dogs, scrap-booking, boating, traveling and shopping, especially for antiques.

What's New at SSYH

All of us at SSYH wish you and the rest of your team a happy fall, and happy holidays in the upcoming months! Our South Florida Open House and Customer Appreciation Reception was a success, and we thank all who attended for joining us. For those who were unable to attend, we will be having a Client Appreciation Event in Central Florida soon. We will update you with further details soon!

Four new clients located in cities throughout Florida, including Astatula, Boca Raton, Jupiter and West Palm Beach, were recently added. Our new clients represent numerous industries including construction, financial services, government and manufacturing. We would like to welcome them to the SSYH family!

Tips & Tricks from the HelpDesk

Do you need help from SSYH?

SSYH has an in-house support area that is available for help with Microsoft Dynamics SL, Microsoft Dynamics GP and Microsoft Dynamics CRM. Support can be obtained by calling (800) 670-0059 and selecting extension 122. You may also email your support questions/issues to our help desk at ssyhsupport@ssyh.com. When emailing, please include any screen shots or error messages that will help solve your issue.

Keep in Mind:
The calendar year end is just around the corner. Now is the time to start thinking about year end processing.
 


Microsoft Dynamics SL (Solomon)

Creating Favorites:

Favorites allow you to open a Microsoft Dynamics SL window, Web page or external file and/or program in one step.

For example, to create a Favorite for the General Ledger Journal Transaction screen:

  1. Click on Utility > Favorite Maintenance

  2. Enter a unique Application Number (i.e. 99.999.01)

  3. Enter a description of the shortcut (i.e. Journal Transaction)

  4. Select Solomon Application for Application Type

  5. Enter the Microsoft Dynamics SL screen number (i.e. 0101000)

To create a Favorite for the CustomerSource web site:

  1. Click on Utility > Favorite Maintenance

  2. Enter a unique Application Number (i.e. 99.999.02)

  3. Enter a description of the shortcut (i.e. CustomerSource)

  4. Select Non-Solomon Application for the Application Type

  5. Enter explorer.exe and the CustomerSource URL (i.e. explorer.exe https://mbs.microsoft.com/customersource)

  6. Click Save to save the Favorite

Refer to the System Manager manual for more information.
 

Microsoft Dynamics SL Productivity Tools:

Do you want to prevent Microsoft Dynamics SL users from posting to prior or future periods? Ironware's HardClose module can prevent posting to a prior or future period. Contact SSYH for more information.


Do you find the Microsoft Dynamics SL Event Log Viewer difficult to use? Sandler*Kahne Software offers a FREE enhanced product for viewing event logs. Contact SSYH for information on installing this free product.  

 

Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains)

Creating Shortcuts:  

Shortcuts enable you to open a Microsoft Dynamics GP window, Web page or external files and/or programs in one step.

To create a shortcut to a Microsoft Dynamics GP window:

  1. Open the window

  2. Right click on the Shortcut Folder on the Shortcut Pane (If the Shortcut Pane is not visible, choose View > Navigation Pane)

  3. Choose Add and Current Window

To create a shortcut for the CustomerSource Web Site:

  1. Right click on the Shortcuts Folder

  2. Select Add > Web Page

  3. Enter a Name for the Shortcut (i.e. Customer Source)

  4. In the Address line enter the URL (i.e. https://mbs.microsoft.com/customersource)

  5. Click Add to add the Shortcut

Product Life Cycle Reminder

Microsoft Dynamics SL:

  • v5.5 - Microsoft Support ends October 10, 2006. Be sure to upgrade before October to take full advantage of your investment in Microsoft Maintenance. (When Microsoft discontinues a product line they prohibit purchasing additional licenses for modules and users and they no longer provide technical support. They also stop providing tax updates.)

  • v6.0 - Supported through September 29, 2009

  • v6.5 - Supported through March 31, 2011 with extended support options through March 31, 2016.

Microsoft Dynamics GP:

  • v7.5 - Microsoft Support ends October 31, 2006. Be sure to upgrade before October to take full advantage of your investment in Microsoft Maintenance. (When Microsoft discontinues a product line they prohibit purchasing additional licenses for modules and users and they no longer provide technical support. They also stop providing tax updates.)

  • v8.0 - Supported through September 30, 2009

  • v9.0 - Supported through March 31, 2010

Microsoft Dynamics CRM:

  • v1.2 - Supported through January 9, 2007

  • v3.0 - Supported through April 12, 2011
